BBIS Program



The BBIS program of Kathmandu University is a four-year, 120 credit-hour bachelor degree program. It aims to prepare students to become competent, skilled, confident and socially responsive management professionals with a sound knowledge, abilities and skills in information systems and information technology. Upon successful completion of the program, a BBIS graduate is expected to support the managerial, leadership and entrepreneurial roles in corporate houses and social organizations.

Objectives

The program’s specific objectives are:

  • To provide students with a better and broader perspective of the world, society, business, information systems, and life by combining the study of management and information technology with the study of social sciences and humanities.


  • To develop a habit of critical and creative thinking in students.


  • To develop analytical and problem solving abilities in students.


  • To improve communicative and presentation skills of students.


  • To familiarize students with contemporary concepts, tools and techniques of management.


  • To deepen the knowledge and sharpen the expertise of students in the area of information systems and information technology as a functional area.


  • To offer a number of elective courses so that students can match their personal interests with the demand of employment market.


  • To prepare students as sensible and responsive citizens with a high degree of professional, social and ethical values.


  • To prepare students for higher studies (Masters’ level programs) in the areas of management and information systems.

Selection and Admission

Students are admitted to the BBIS program during June-July every year before the fall semester starts. To be eligible for applying for admission to the program, a student must have:

  • successfully completed 10+2 examination or its equivalent degree from any recognized school, college, board or university with an aggregate of at least 50%.

  • completed the admission application form available from the respective college and submitted it to the admission office at the college within the stipulated date and time.

  • submitted the attested copies of mark sheets, grade sheets, transcripts, transfer and character certificates and other relevant documents of each level of examination (SLC, 10+2 or their equivalent) passed.

  • submitted attested copy of Citizenship Certificate or Passport (in case of foreign students).

  • successfully completed all the admission processes.

Admission Test

Applicants are required to appear in the admission test conducted by the respective colleges which may consist of written test, group discussion and personal interview. The Final Selection and Admission of an applicant depends on her/his performance on the admission test and the previous academic background.

Credit Transfer

The BBIS program accepts the credit transfer of the students studying similar program in other college/university only by getting the prior written approval from the Dean’s Office at Kathmandu University School of Management.

CCNA Program

Students admitted to the BBIS program get an opportunity to join the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) program, which is a comprehensive four-semester, 280 hours web-based academic course.
This certification program of international standard qualifies students to take advantage of worldwide available opportunities in the IT field.


Orientation Program

Designed to introduce you to the college and its programs, the Orientation Program also discusses the growing significance of management and IT study in today's competitive environment, and available career opportunities. You will also learn how to maximize benefits from the four-year BBIS program at KCM.


Counselling Services

At KCM, you avail of continuous counselling services. These services mainly aim to help you overcome general problems that obstruct your professional and individual goals in life.


Small Study Group

Much of the learning at KCM takes place in small groups. Students in a study group meet frequently to discuss their coursework, assignments or project works. These groups are formed on the basis of a mix of students' backgrounds and strengths.


Dynamic Learning Methods

'Learning to learn' is key to the BBIS program. Here, you will experience an enriching learning process. They are: active class discussion, project works, internship and other assignments.
