AIESEC International Congress, 2015

Samanata Thapa and Ritesh Poddar, two 4th year students from KCM, attended a 10 day conference entitled ‘AIESEC International Congress 2015’ held at Hyatt Regency, Gurgaon, India themed Steering Change and Forging Meaning through Youth Leadership.

This conference was the largest annual conference of AIESEC and brought together 900 youth delegates from 118 countries, government representatives, business leaders, entrepreneurs, global trailblazers and UN envoys. The summit focused on strategizing and co-creating the organization’s mid-term strategy and vision through 2020.

Alongside, parallel events such as Global Village, Youth Speak, India Night and Gala Night also happened at the conference. The event ‘Global Village’ saw 118 countries connecting the world together and delegations showcasing their traditions, cultures and history.

Similarly, the event ‘Youth Speak’ was aimed at bridging the gap between youths and business leaders, and saw big names such as Ahmad Alhendawi , UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth; Venkatesh Kini, CEO, Coca- Cola India; and Vishen Lakhiani, CEO, Mind Valley address and inspire the youths.

India Night was another event where delegates from the host country created an experience, highlighting the beauty and richness of India, inside the venue premises itself. Likewise, Gala Night was a night of celebration where the results of the former years were reviewed and awards and accolades were distributed to AIESEC countries with outstanding performance. The event ended on a positive note to achieve the five year plan i.e. AIESEC 2020 and with the promise to fight relentlessly for a better world.

Ritesh Poddar, a student of KCM and part of the organizing committee for International Congress 2015 shared, “As part of the organizing committee for IC2015, I was leading the transportation project in the logistics team. This experience helped me explore new markets and work with an extremely diverse group of people. Besides that, it entirely changed my perception towards the logistics function and helped me realize how logistics is not only about on-site logistical requirements but more of cost cutting. I'm glad to have participated in such a huge event and proud to have completed my project successfully without any glitches. Thanks to AIESEC for providing me this platform and to KCM for supporting me throughout the process."

All in all, the event was an enriching and learning experience with a lifetime of memories for both the delegates from KCM.
